Connect VS Code

Use VS Code’s MCP integration with an HTTP server entry. Its configuration uses servers, not mcpServers.

Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server. Choose HTTP, paste the endpoint and name it serverx.
Choose your user profile for all projects, or the workspace to save .vscode/mcp.json. The equivalent JSON is below.
Run MCP: List Servers, select serverx and start it. Complete the browser authorization when prompted.
Enable the ServerX tools in an agent chat and ask it to list your hosts. After a tool update, use MCP: Reset Cached Tools if the list is stale.

MCP availability can be controlled by your organization’s VS Code policy. Do not add a static Client ID or secret for ServerX’s automatic registration flow.

Authorization covers current and future hosts in your selected ServerX account or team. Your host’s local configuration decides what can execute. Disconnect access at any time in AI Apps. The agent contains no AI.
